Reebok Classic

An American-inspired, global brand founded by Joseph William Foster in Bolton, England as far back as 1895- who named that brand after himself. In 1958, with the business thriving, Joseph’s grandsons Joe and Jeff Foster moved in with the business and created a companion company, called “Reebok”.

The name originates from a species of African Antelope called a “Grey Rhebok” – perfect for describing the elegance and fast pace of the brand!

The Expansion

In 1979, Reebok was sought out by American businessman, Paul Fireman at the Chicago International Sneaker Trade Show. He was working for an outdoor sporting goods store, when Reebok caught his eye and negotiations and deals sparked from there, leading into licensing and distribution of the brand throughout the U.S.

Today Reebok is known across the globe and is competing with the biggest brands in the business, with the likes of Adidas, Puma, Nike and many other footwear brands. Reebok maintains the creation and markets for sports and lifestyle products, showing a strong heritage and authenticity within sports, fitness and women’s categories. Committed to designing products and marketing programs that reflect creativity and desire that constantly challenge the status quo.

As the years progressed, Reebok acknowledged the rise of professional athletes in their midst from basketball to tennis and more - men and women alike. Sponsoring top athletes with the brand – helping both the athlete and the brand make their mark! Reebok made history again when they signed their first non-athlete with music artist Jay-Z with the shoe labelled the “ReebokS. Carter”.

In August 2005, Reebok was acquired by big-name brand in the business Adidas, making two of the largest sport companies unite forces but maintain procedures under separate brand names.

Reebok now sponsors The UFC for all their uniform and apparel, and as for footwear, they offer a high range of sporting goods as well as casual footwear – another one of their aims.

Reebok and Adidas together have taken the sporting world by a storm and they aren’t finished yet!
