Fred Perry collaborated with Tibby Wegner to invent the sweatband in the late1940’s and the pair then went on to launch a sports shirt in 1952 (at Wimbledon) with great success, and the Fred Perry clothing brand was born. The Fred Perry laurel logo was based on the old Wimbledon symbol, and like other brands it\'s heritage is firmly rooted in it’s tennis history, but has now gone way beyond that and found an audience in the World of casual fashion. Fred Perry polo’s have been associated with the Mod scene for years, and with Mod icons Pete Townsend and Paul Weller, and has remained a very British brand while expanding into a global market.
